Rock Steady Boxing

The mission of Rock Steady Boxing is to empower people with Parkinson’s disease to fight back. Rock Steady Boxing, a nonprofit organization, gives people with Parkinson’s disease hope by improving their quality of life through a non-contact boxing based fitness curriculum. Move better and move faster through balance, strength, coordination and endurance in a safe, peer-supported environment.

Theresa Willenborg-Zwettler

Theresa Willenborg-Zwettler

Theresa was born and raised in Champaign Urbana IL, where she was first certified in group fitness. After college she moved to Boston MA, New York City NY, then back to Chicago IL.  Theresa then moved to Effingham IL, invested in a business, raised a family and started a few small businesses of her own.  Theresa is the mom of three outstanding young adults and has the most extraordinary grandchild.  She is the daughter of German immigrants, an election judge and a eucharistic minister. Theresa is a seasoned professional with over 20 years of experience in property management, customer service, marketing, sales training and recruiting plus many accredited training certificates. She is a local business owner-operator, diamond broker and a personal trainer at the Workman Sports Center in Effingham IL. She has always led an athletic lifestyle and has been a certified fitness instructor, teaching group fitness and step aerobics, Pilates, Barre, Spin and many other forms of exercise for more than 30 years. She also holds a nutritionist certification. Theresa excels in building and maintaining relationships with clients and team members. She loves it when people feel their best, and finds it rewarding to motivate others while promoting fitness and an overall healthy lifestyle. She is passionate about educating others so they feel comfortable being the best that they can be both mentally and physically. Theresa’s mother had Parkinson’s, therefore she has a special interest in working with central nervous system disorders. Theresa is a certified Rock Steady Boxing coach teaching at the Workman Sports Center in Effingham, IL.

Parkinson's Support Groups

Please join us the LAST Wednesday of Every Month in the basement of the Effingham Library at 1:00 p.m - 2:15 p.m. Spouses or care partners are welcomed. The first regular in person monthly meeting is April 28th, 2021. WE WILL NOT MEET IN MARCH.

 

Online Parkinson's Programming

More than 60 hours weekly: fitness, expert education, care partner support, speech, peer learning, & socialization.

Our programs are individually designed to optimize both mind and mobility. We want to empower clients to leave feeling hopeful and engaged! We service seniors in Central IL and Southwest Florida.
